Forensic Archaeology: How an International Team Went in Search of an American Hero.

Since 2021 Aaron Taylor has been working with the US government agency responsible for finding and identifying
its MIA personnel from past conflicts. In July he led a team of archaeologists and students and travelled to
France in search of a crew member of a downed WW2 bomber whose remains are still missing. This talk
will discuss this program, the 2023 French mission and the work to establish a Canadian recovery and
identification program.

Aaron Taylor is a professional archaeologist in Nova Scotia and teaches in the History and Earth & Environmental Sciences Department at Acadia University. He has run archaeology field schools in Nova Scotia, Cuba, France and this spring Austria. Dr. Taylor has been collaborating with the DPAA, a branch of the US government responsible for the recovery and Identification of MIA personnel from past conflicts, since 2021. He lives with his family in the Annapolis Valley.
